Bongbong Camp shows proof that evidences obtained from SC, Leni Camp stays mum

A lawyer of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Saturday said the ballot images in their possession, which is being claimed by the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo as "fabricated", were obtained from the Supreme Court (SC).

"'Wag nila yurakan ang integridad ng Korte Suprema dahil sinasabi ng grpup ni Mrs. Robredo a couple of days back na ito pong hawak namin ay fabricated, manufactured, tampered pieces of evidence," Vic Rodriguez, Marcos's counsel, said in a forum in Quezon City.

"Mind you, ito po galing sa Korte Suprema at hindi po gagawin ng Korte Suprema magbigay ng fraudulent, tampered o manufactured evidence," Rodriguez added.

On Tuesday, Robredo's lawyer Romulo Macalintal said Marcos’ claim that his camp has uncovered “solid and incontrovertible evidence of massive fraud that transpired in the 2016 elections” based on their own copies of ballot images from the pilot provinces of Camarines Sur and Negros Oriental, was “highly ridiculous if not outright frivolous.”

Macalintal had said that if the ballot images in possession of the Marcos camp fail to match those in the custody of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, it would be considered as fabricated.

The former senator, who lost to Robredo in the May 2016 elections, announced earlier this week that ballot images from Barangay Salvacion in Tigaon, Camarines Sur and barangays Poblacion and Jilocon in Negros Oriental show that votes for him were not counted and considered undervotes.

He said these documents are proof of cheating during the previous elections.

Rodriguez, for his part, said that the ballot images were the product of the description proceedings in relation to the former senator's electoral protest.

He said the ballot images they presented were from the soft copies obtained from the SC.

"So kumuha po kami ng soft copy noong kami na ang nag-iimprenta sa opisina ay ito na po ang lumabas itong mahiwagang squares... This is a  true and authentic reproduction ng balllot images," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez also called on the high court to proceed with the manual recount to really find out who is the true winner of the vice presidential race.
